Not automatically. Choose a comfortable pair for your activity rather than trying to change a painless foot's shape. If support has been recommended for you, compare how the contour feels while standing and walking. It should not create a sharp pressure point.
For pain, stiffness or changes in walking, a clinician can assess what is happening. NHS guidance notes that inserts may help symptoms but do not change the shape of your feet. Do not use an at-home shoe-bending test to diagnose overpronation or decide that a shoe will treat it.
