Clarks Men's Un Briley Step
$169.95
Pictured in Mahogany leather. A men's slip-on with elastic at the opening, a contoured EVA footbed and rubber outsole. Select MAHOGA/W for the listed wide option.
Choose your sizeFor wide feet, check the width you can actually order before choosing a brand. At Feet Heart, Clarks Un Briley Step in Mahogany and Guideview Trek in Black have wide-coded options. Birkenstock Arizona is worth comparing for its adjustable straps, but confirm the supplied footbed width before ordering.
A broad-looking toe is only part of the fit. You may need more space across the ball of the foot, more height over the instep, or both. Buying extra length can leave your heel loose without solving the pressure where you need room.
| What to check | What it means for your choice |
|---|---|
| A true wide men's shoe | Clarks Un Briley Step in Mahogany has MAHOGA/W options. It is a closed leather slip-on, so check the opening and instep as well as width. |
| A wide men's sandal | Clarks Guideview Trek in Black has BLACK/W options. The straps adjust the hold; choose W rather than the separate M option. |
| A Birkenstock sandal | Regular is the brand's wider footbed. The linked Arizona listing has no separate width selector, so ask us to confirm the pair in your size. |
| A women's wide option | Check the specific size and color. The Sabina Sling listing includes Tan Wide, while Trulie includes NAVY WD; neither means every color is wide. |
| A roomy closed toe | Banter and Professional Cabrio are different constructions, not a guarantee of wide fit. Their linked listings do not offer a separate width choice. |

Pictured in Black Birko-Flor. Two buckle straps adjust over the foot. Confirm the supplied width in your size: loosening the straps does not make the footbed wider.
Choose your sizeThe Clarks Men's Guideview Trek in Black is $99.95. Look for BLACK/W when you need wide, not BLACK/M. It adds an adjustable heel strap to the sandal comparison. Size availability differs between those two options.
The Clarks Sabina Sling in Tan Wide is $119.95. At our September 6 check, the wide-coded option was available in size 9.5 only. It is a wedge sandal, so choose it for the shape you want rather than treating it as an all-purpose low shoe.
The Taos Trulie also has a NAVY WD option, with EU 40 available at that check. Black and Camel do not carry that same width label in this listing. If those sizes do not work, ask us for another option in your measurements instead of buying the wrong length.
Birkenstock's fit guide calls Regular suitable for medium-to-wide feet and Narrow suitable for narrow-to-medium feet. The outlined footprint indicates Regular; the filled footprint indicates Narrow. Verify the actual pair, not just a product photo or the word unisex.
The Florida Soft Footbed gives you three buckle straps instead of Arizona's two. Those straps change how the upper holds your foot, not the width of the base. Keep your foot within the footbed edges. Compare the silhouettes in our Arizona vs Gizeh guide and check the Birkenstock sizing guide before choosing a size.
Taos Banter has an adjustable V-strap and a removable footbed. That is useful when comparing depth and an insert, but removing the footbed does not turn it into a verified wide-width shoe. Dansko Professional Cabrio has toe room and intentional heel movement; make sure its structured upper is comfortable across your instep.
For a different leather shape, read the Pikolinos sizing guide. Do not assume every Pikolinos shoe is narrow or automatically size up across the brand.
Enough usable space across the forefoot, comfortable depth over the instep and a heel that stays secure. A wide-width option can help, but the shape still has to match your foot. A roomy toe box and a wide width describe different parts of fit.
Check the model and the option in your size. The linked Clarks Un Briley Step and Guideview Trek listings include W-coded choices. Birkenstock offers Regular and Narrow footbeds. Taos and Dansko fit varies by style; a roomy description is not proof that the listed pair is wide.
Not just to solve width. A longer size changes the overall fit and may still leave pressure across your forefoot or too much heel movement. Follow the model's sizing guidance, then compare the proper width or another shape if it still pinches.
Either can work. Adjustable sandals let you change the hold over your foot, but their footbed edges still limit usable width. Closed shoes need enough space at the toes and instep without relying on excessive length.
Choose a shape you enjoy wearing and a fit that lets your foot sit comfortably. A broad strap or a clean leather upper can give a simple look, but there is no need to hide your foot width or squeeze into a pointed toe.
We do not stock Hoka or Brooks and have not compared their current models here. For an athletic shoe, compare the specific model and width in person. There is no need to rule out running shoes for everyday wear solely because they were designed for running.
