Vans core canvas styles run true to size for most people. The toe box can feel slightly roomy at first, especially on the Old Skool and Era because of their padded collar, but the canvas softens and the fit settles within a few wears. Order your usual size and you will be in good shape.
What size Vans should I order?
Order your normal size. If you are right between two sizes or prefer a snug fit, size down a half size, since the canvas gives a little as it breaks in. The Classic Slip-On can feel a touch roomier than the lace-up styles, so half a size down is a safe call there if you want them close-fitting.
Are Vans sold in unisex sizing?
Yes. Vans are sold in unisex sizing based on US men's sizes. If you normally wear a US women's size, order about 1.5 sizes down to land on the right unisex size — for example, a women's 8.5 is roughly a unisex 7. Very nearly. All three run true to size on the same last. The Authentic is the simplest and lowest-profile, the Era adds a padded collar, and the Old Skool adds the padded collar plus the side stripe and a slightly roomier toe box. Pick your usual size in any of them.
Are Vans narrow or wide?
Vans are built on a standard medium width. The canvas upper has a little give and relaxes with wear, so a medium foot fits comfortably and a slightly wider foot usually breaks them in without going up a size. If you have a very wide foot, the suede-and-canvas Old Skool tends to be the most forgiving.
