Do Timberlands Run Big? Timberland Sizing & Fit Guide
Thinking about a pair of Timberlands? The fit trips people up because the classic boots run a little large. Here's how to size them, from an authorized Timberland retailer at a family-run store open since 2003.
Do Timberland boots run big or small?
Most Timberland boots — including the classic 6-Inch Premium — run about a half size large. If you're between sizes, or you plan to wear them with thin socks, order a half size down from your usual sneaker size. Timberland makes both whole and half sizes, so you can dial in the fit.
Should I size down in Timberlands?
Usually yes — a half size down is the most common recommendation for the 6-inch boots and chukkas. If you wear thick or wool socks in cold weather, or you have a wider foot, your true size may feel better. When in doubt, go half down and add an insole if there's extra room.
How should Timberland boots fit?
Aim for a snug heel with a little wiggle room at the toes. The nubuck and leather soften and mold slightly with wear, so a secure (not tight) fit when new is ideal. Your heel shouldn't slip once the boot is laced.
Are Timberland boots waterproof?
Many are. The classic Premium and the styles labeled "Waterproof" use seam-sealed waterproof construction; some fabric and chukka styles are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. Check the individual product page — we note waterproofing in the title and description. Choosing between a waterproof Timberland and a leather Dr. Martens?
