Do Converse Run Big? Chuck Taylor Sizing & Fit Guide

Classic Chuck Taylor All Stars and Chuck 70s run large according to Converse. The brand's classic All Star product guidance recommends starting a half size down from your usual shoe size. Check the width and the size label too: the fit adjustment and the men's/women's conversion are two different decisions.

If you already have Chucks that fit comfortably, start with that size. Do not subtract another half size just because you are buying a new color or another pair.

Read the Chuck size label correctly

For classic Chuck Taylor All Stars and Chuck 70s, the manufacturer's U.S. women's label is two sizes above the men's label. Men's 7 and women's 9 describe the same chart row. This is different from the 1.5-size gap used in Vans' unisex chart.

Use these rows to read a size you have chosen, not to make the fit smaller a second time. For example, if women's 9 is your comfortable Chuck size, its label equivalent is men's 7. If you are starting from another brand, first consider Converse's fit guidance, then convert the chosen Chuck size.

Some Feet Heart options show both labels, such as 8 Men / 10 Women; others show only a number. Ask us to confirm a plain-number option before ordering when the size system is unclear. Other Converse families use different charts, so do not transfer this table to every Converse model.

Width matters as much as length

Converse offers standard and dedicated wide versions of selected Chuck Taylor All Stars. Neither of the two Feet Heart listings below has a separate width selector. Check with us before assuming a pair is wide.
